Popcorn Sale begins September 1st!

Posted on Sep 1 2010 - 9:40pm
Our annual Popcorn Sale starts September 1st!  The products and prizes are a little different this year, but for the better.  Please review these with your Scout(s) and help them set their sales goal.  In addition to the prizes offered by Trails-End, we will have Pack awards available also.  We are finalizing the incentive list now and will forward that to everyone, along with other important sale dates, within the next day or two.

If you have not done so already, register your Scout for online sales.  You can do this by going to https://scouts.trails-end.com and click on "Create an Account" to get started.  Your Scout can send e-mails to friends and family across the country right from this site.  The customer simply has to click the link in their e-mail to make a purchase on your Scout's behalf, and Trails-End will ship the order directly to them.  All online orders will be added to personal sales for prizes and awards!

Don't forget about our Kickoff Pack Meeting on Tuesday, September 14th.  We will have additional prizes to give away during the kickoff and will give more details about the popcorn sale.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the sale before our kickoff.  You can also find additional informaton at www.trails-end.com.  If you did not receive the sale flyer in the mail, there will be some in a box outside Allan Boyce's front door later today so you can pick one up or contact you den leader to get one.

Pack 138 Scouts complete 4.3 mile hike in downtown Chicago

Posted on Aug 24 2010 - 10:58am

On Sunday, Aug 22nd, Scouts from Pack 138 completed a 4.3 Mile hike starting at the Geneva Train Station, and riding to Ogilvie Transportation center in Downtown Chicago.  From there, the Scouts walked one block to a Water Taxi, where they took a 10 minute boat ride to Michigan Avenue for lunch at McDonald's. The Scouts then hiked North to the historic Chicago Water Tower, and then enjoyed some chocolate samples from the Hershey and Giardelli stores. The Scouts then returned South along Michigan Avenue where they saw various street performers including a "living statue", a one-man band, a Chinese cultural celebration, and various decorated refrigerators. The refrigerators were decorated as part of a Com-Ed energy awareness effort to encourage individuals to get rid of old non-energy efficient refrigerators. The Scouts then continued their hike to visit the Bean sculpture, walk through an outdoor air fair, and see Buckingham fountain. Upon their return trip to the train station, they hiked through a "Transformers 3" set about ready to shoot, and along the footprint of the Willis Tower. The Scout even picked up their pace along the return trip as they made their train back to Geneva by less than three minutes. With the next Geneva train not leaving for two additional hours, everyone was relieved to have made their scheduled train!Scouts at Buckinham Fountain

Check out the Photo Albums link in the navigation menu to see pictures from our last Pack Hike at LeRoy Oakes Forest preserve in St. Charles.  A great hike through the woods, along Ferson Creek, and then along a cliff that followed the creek.
